Country Lighting Assessments
 By simply replacing all incandescent lamps around with world with energy efficient compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), 409 TWh (Terawatt hours) per year would be saved, which is approximately 2.3% of the global electricity consumption. Comprehensive Country Lighting Assessments have been developed for 100 countries that have not yet made the shift to efficient lighting.

 Mr. Carlos Alexandre Principe Pires is the Coordenador Geral de Eficiência Energética for the Ministério de Minas e Energia in Brazil. He granted the en.lighten initiative an interview and provided the following information on the energy efficient ligjhting transformation project in Brazil.
