Chile Overview

Chile launched in 2013 a market based transformation effort to realize significant savings by achieving the transition to the most efficient lighting technologies in all sectors. Chile's Ministry of Energy adopted the National Efficient Lighting Strategy in late 2013, phasing-out inefficient incandescent lamps through minimum energy performance standards and an integrated policy approach. Chile’s strategy was developed through a partnership with the UNEP-GEF en.lighten initiative.
