In collaboration with the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) government representatives from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) successfully established a regionally coordinated framework to transition to energy efficient on- and off-grid lighting in Dakar, Senegal in April 2014. Countries will begin national implementation of the program after its high level political endorsement by ECOWAS ministers by the end of 2014.
