The National Lighting Test Centre (NLTC), located in Beijing, China, is the most recent partner of the UNEP/GEF en.lighten initiative after having joined in 2011. The NLTC shares the same objective of promoting the rapid deployment of energy efficient lighting technologies in developing and emerging countries. As a key partner, the NLTC and UNEP have together launched the Global Efficient Lighting Technical Centre – UNEP Collaborating Centre for Energy Efficient Lighting.
Established almost 40 years ago, NLTC is an internationally recognized lighting laboratory specializing in energy efficient lighting products. With their vast experience and their support of global efficient lighting initiatives, they have developed a strong foundation in the industry and earned an excellent reputation in the process.
As an independent third-party laboratory, NLTC is well positioned to provide cost-effective solutions and quality control measures for its clients. It is an authorized supplier for governments around the world including the U.S.A., Sweden, Australia and the Chinese government. NLTC is accredited to provide technical service and support to high profile organizations, such as Energy Star in the United States and the Energy Saving Trust in the United Kingdom. They also assist developing countries to establish national lighting test laboratories and have backed numerous leading lighting manufacturers in obtaining ISO17025 accreditation.
NLTC is focused on addressing technical issues and involved in applied research for emerging, energy efficient lighting technologies. For example, NLTC was involved in drafting the new IEC compact fluorescent lamp performance standards, as well as the IEC standard for the measurement of mercury levels in fluorescent lamps. They also develop standards and specifications for LED lighting products and are involved in many projects that address LED lighting product quality impact issues. In fact, NLTC is the core laboratory responsible for the coordination of LED lighting laboratories in Asia-Pacific region for the International Energy Agency.
With over 20 years experience in promoting energy efficient lighting, NLTC has contributed to product quality improvements as well as quality control in the global marketplace. For more information, please visit www.nltc.cn/en.
