A new en.lighten video has been produced and highlights the fact that a simple shift to efficient lighting would cut the global electricity used for lighting by half. The video features interviews with Achim Steiner, the Executive Director of UNEP who asserts the need for a global phase-out of inefficient lighting by the year 2016. The Minister of the Environment for Uruguay emphasized the importance of environmentally sound management of lamps at end-of- life, and the Operations Manager for National Energy Efficiency Agency in South Africa stresses that the time for all countries to act is now.

The video is available on the en.lighten website and can also be accessed on YouTube.
